Lacien Blake was born in Trelawny, Jamaica and currently resides Brooklyn, NY. Lacien graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelors in Biology and Minor in Psychology. She attained a Bachelors degree in Theology from Northern Connecticut Inspirational College and Theology.
Lacien is charming, inquisitive and is purpose driven. She is also an avid writer after becoming more rooted in her faith as a Christian. Her writing stems from personal testimonies to addressing love, life, relationships and societal concerns in a creative and Biblical perspective. Her writing presents a more contemporary view without misrepresenting the word of God. She speaks with confidence, conviction and clarity while uplifting her audiences.
Lacien Blake was recently featured in various women conferences and forums. Moreover, Lacien was the 2013 semifinalist and 2014 and 2015 finalist for the Connecticut Slam poetry. She was also the 2017 True Voice Slam Poetry Champion. She performs in the Tri-state area in such places as the famous Nuyorican Café in New York City and the Village Underground.
Lacien continues to inspire others with inspirational words of wisdom and she strongly believes that words are powerful, and we must use them wisely. She is also available to write for magazines, events and to do guest performances. She is currently working finishing her book, Journal Entries to Recover ME: God Revealing the ME in me through Poetry.
Lacien Blake was first introduced to dancing at the age of 25 when her pastor asked her to dance with them for a Sunday service skit. After that first experience, she enjoyed it so much that her desire to dance became a natural interest and therefore, transitioned into a passion she has grown to love. Dancing was then later prophesized to her as a calling in her life. As Lacien embraced her passion for dancing she began to teach the youths in the church, praise dance, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit at the House of Refuge Int’l in Springfield, MA.
She is self-taught, and her dancing incorporates modern dance style. Lacien continues to develop as a dancer and choreographer and actively seeking opportunities to progress in this endeavor. In addition, she teaches pantomime and skits as a part of her routine. Furthermore, she aids students in developing musicality by incorporating their raw emotions during their performances.
During the summers of 2012 and 2013, Lacien taught dance at Friendship Kids Summer Camp located in Hartford Ct. over the years, she has worked with children from ages 5-18. Lacien is concrete in her belief that dancing is not only a means of expression; it is also a mechanism to reach the youth/young adult, and subsequently helps build self-esteem, self-awareness, character and the aptitude to inspire others. While she resided in Hartford, CT Lacien taught/choreograph liturgical/praise dance at the Wilson-Gray YMCA. She is also available for guest performances.
Furthermore, Lacien has been inspired to model after watching the "fashion world" and yet, she does not want to compromise her faith. She modeled for Natural Hair Twist and Curves in West Hartford, CT and was feature in Black Beauty & Hair, London Reb/March 2013 Issue and Essence Magazine March 2013 Issue. She is currently working as a full-time Fit/Showroom model in NYC.
